Ruth Gibson

Ruth has just been appearing in The Kitchen at the National Theatre. Prior to this she performed a monologue, Portmanteau, at the Arcola Theatre and A Bigger Banner by Mark Ravenhill for Theatre Uncut at Soho.

Previously: UK tour of My Wonderful Day (Nominated for Most Outstanding Play, Drama Desk Awards - New York), written and directed by Alan Ayckbourn, following a successful run in New York and at the Stephen Joseph Theatre.

Also at the Stephen Joseph; Alice in Snake in The Grass and Ella, Life and Beth, Ann in Touch Wood and Miss 1940 in Peter Nichols' Forget Me Not Lane. Other theatre work includes; Jill Rillington in Man of the Moment and  Nicola in Private Fears in Public Places at Theatre Royal, Northampton. Sidney in Independent Means (Winner Best Actress, MEN Awards) and Jane in Tennessee Williams' Vieux Carre at the Library Theatre, Manchester. Brian Friel’s adaptation of The Bear by Chekhov, national tour, Beattie in Markings at the Southwark Playhouse, Traverse and National Tour.The title role in Anne of Green Gables at London’s Sadler’s Wells Theatre, Ella, After Mrs Rochester for Shared Experience - Nominated for the Evening Standard “Best Play” award - at the Duke of York’s Theatre, West End, Linda, Blood Brothers, Phoenix Theatre, West End, Marya, The Government Inspector for Horla, Dawn (Rei-Mei) London and Tokyo and a sell out run of The Fairer Sex at Edinburgh Festival. She has also worked with The Royal Shakespeare Company, Terry Johnson, The Globe Theatre, Soho Theatre and The Gate in Notting Hill.

TV and film credits include Judge John Deed, The Culture Show and Doctors for the BBC. A short film, The Fridge, for BFI and feature film Good Girl, Bad Girl.

Ruth is the voice of Orange Mobile Phone and has recorded numerous adverts for television and radio, including Ariel washing powder and British Airways and in house work for American Express, HSBC, Co-operative Bank and The Times.

Ruth trained at Hull University, Guilford School of Acting and Ecole Philippe Gaulier.
